We currently have classrooms from all over the United States using Nepris and we are actively recruiting industry volunteers for the upcoming 2018-19 school year from Recruiting and Human Resources fields to share their expertise with the classroom. We are looking for professionals like you to make an impact on student lives and provide real world connections to what they are learning in the classroom. Providing real world relevance early on gives students the knowledge and the inspiration to aspire for such careers.

You can contribute to the value information students need to develop their career path.  Nepris will recommend matching sessions throughout the year to you based on your profile and when one comes into your inbox, only if you have time, you accept the invitation and have a great time interacting with students! Most sessions are only a class period (45 minutes or less).

Key Questions

The questions will vary by request but typical questions include:

  • What types of things do you do in your job?
  • Why did you decide to pursue this career?
  • Did you have any role models or influencers in your life that helped make the decision?
  • What kind of team do you work on and what is your role on the team?
  • What are some challenges you face and how do you overcome them?
  • How is what I'm learning applied to what you do?
  • What is the most fun thing about your job?

Expected Outcomes

The purpose of the interaction with students is to introduce them to you career path and the education required to get there, promote what your company does and the types of jobs available and then make a curriculum connection in one of three basic ways depending on the request from the educator:

Topic Presentation format is the most common and used when the educator has requested the industry expert to talk about a particular curriculum topic or career path. This type of session will likely involve a format consisting of a presentation followed by Q&A.

Project Mentoring is used if the students are involved in a long term project or investigation and they want to consult an industry expert during project research and development. This type of session will likely involve students presenting something about their project to date and asking questions to help them remove roadblocks.

Project Evaluation is used when the teacher wants to invite an industry expert into the classroom during final presentations of a project. These will be used mostly in project-based learning or in helping provide feedback in capstone projects. This may involve an online review of projects before the live virtual session.

Nepris will provide you a framework for each of these to help you prepare.
